Christian Estate Planning

What is Christian Estate Planning?

  • For some it means nothing.  Just knowing that your attorney is coming from the same worldview as you is enough.
  • For others it simply means prayer during our meetings.  Prayer during the meeting allows God to guide your attorney’s mind to design the best possible plan for you as a result of prayer.
  • For others, it may mean altering your legal documents.  We can interlace scripture throughout your trust, will, power of attorney, and healthcare documents to guide your family in what was important to you.  We want to give them comfort in a time when they are stressed and grieving.  We want them to know that you are in a better place and they should not weep for you but rejoice.
  • For those with minor children, it means praying about a guardian for your children.  Often times we look at the financial stability of a guardian to determine if they can take care of your children.  More importantly, we want to look at the spiritual stability of your guardian.  Are they going to raise your children in the way that you raise them?

Finally, Christian Estate Planning means stewarding.  It means stewarding both faith and wealth.  OC Elder Law hosts family meetings to discuss this now while you are living.  We want to facilitate a discussion on why faith is important to you and how it has affected your life.  3 John 1:4 says “I have no greater joy that o hear that my children are walking in the truth.”  We want to help you in stewarding this faith to the next generation.

We also want to steward wealth.  When we leave money to children, we want them to remember Matthew 6:33; “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”  We want to make sure your children and grandchildren know what guided your beliefs on money and how to use it wisely.

Let OC Elder Law guide you through the estate planning process from a Christian perspective.
